With all the cooking that goes on in our test kitchen, there are lots of dishes to do. We’ve tried a number of drain racks over the years and this is the first one we’ve really liked. Made by simplehuman, the steel-frame dish rack has a smart design. Its off side wire system for holding wine glasses is a clever way to keep them out of the fray of pots, pans, and dishes. The rack itself is large enough to hold baking sheets and is good-looking, too, made of sleek (and hygienic) dark gray plastic and stainless steel. It’s held above the counter by adjustable legs so that no mildew-producing moisture gets trapped underneath. Smartest of all is its drainage system, which funnels water to a spout that extends over the sink. The spout swivels to drain from either the short or the long side, allowing it to fit with almost any sink design.
