Preparation

  • Combine the lime juice, agave syrup, cilantro sprigs, 2 of the cucumber slices, and the jalapeño in a chilled cocktail shaker. Muddle well. Add the tequila and fill the shaker with ice. Put the lid on the shaker and make sure you have a tight seal. Shake as hard as you can for 30 seconds and then strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice. Rub the remaining cucumber slice around the rim of the glass to season it; then use it to garnish the drink, along with a sprig of cilantro.

To make agave syrup

  • Combine equal parts light agave nectar and hot water and stir to dissolve. Let cool completely before using. Store in the refrigerator between uses for up to 1 month.

This is a fantastic drink! It got rave reviews from my guests. I made a big batch (each ounce is a cup, etc.) and I muddled all the cucumbers, jalapenos, and cilantro, and I left them to sit in the lime for about half an hour before straining them into the tequila. It's always terrific to have a specialty drink for a party already premade.

This is a perfect cocktail! Tastes like a spa in a glass. I served mine in a margarita or martini glass otherwise there's no way this would make enough for a large glass as shown. I also add triple sec or cointreau instead of agave. Finally I marinate my tequila in the jalapeno so less to muddle. Delicious!!

This cocktail is new to me and looks worth trying, I've been collecting cocktails and I've found a lot at ZCOCKTAILS.

This is my new favorite drink! I wouldn't really call it savory. The result is more like a refreshing and modern take on a margarita, with lovely herbal notes and a kick at the end with the jalapeno! I am totally making this for all my future summer parties (and totally using agave syrup instead of regular simple syrup for other tequila-based drinks in the future!)My only gripe was that while the photo shows a large-ish looking glass filled with the cocktail, the recipe makes only about half a drink I would say? I served it in Mason jars and, even filled with ice, they were still only half full of liquid. Just something to keep in mind; the proportions were perfect.
